A 14-year-old boy from Pinellas County has been charged with first-degree murder following the fatal shooting of his 23-year-old sister, Abrielle Baldwin, in a dispute over Christmas gifts.

The incident occurred after a shopping trip on Christmas Eve, which included the teen, his older sister, their mother, a 15-year-old brother, and Baldwin’s children. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office detailed the unfortunate sequence of events during a news conference. A disagreement over the allocation of Christmas presents escalated into a heated argument between the brothers.

The argument continued at their grandmother’s house in Largo, where they had gone for their grandmother to babysit Baldwin’s young sons while she was at work. The situation quickly spiraled out of control when the 14-year-old brandished a semiautomatic handgun, initially threatening his older brother.

Baldwin intervened, urging her brother to cease the conflict, emphasizing the spirit of Christmas. However, the situation took a fatal turn when the teenager shot Baldwin in the chest. Despite the presence of her baby in a carrier, the child miraculously remained unharmed.

The older brother, aged 15, retaliated by shooting the 14-year-old in the stomach. He fled the scene, discarding his weapon nearby, and was later taken into custody. Baldwin succumbed to her injuries in the hospital; the bullet had caused severe internal damage, puncturing both lungs and leading to internal bleeding.
