Cybersecdn- Christopher Worrell, a member of the far-right group Proud Boys, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for his involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. His offenses include assaulting police officers and an attempt to evade law enforcement, complicating his legal situation.

Worrell’s efforts to avoid capture involved cutting off his ankle monitor and failing to appear for his scheduled sentencing. This led to an intense FBI manhunt, culminating in his capture weeks later after he staged a fake drug overdose in a bid to delay his arrest.

Prosecutors initially suggested a 14-year sentence but later advocated for an increase due to the additional resources expended in recapturing Worrell. In his defense, Worrell cited his battle with a rare form of lymphoma, requesting a reduced sentence of 30 months in home detention.
