Mexico President Issues Apology for Misgendering Lawmaker

Mexico’s President, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, issued a public apology on Tuesday for misgendering Salma Luevano, a transgender representative from his political party. 

The incident occurred after Lopez Obrador faced criticism for referring to Luevano as a man dressed as a woman despite her status as one of the first trans individuals to serve as a federal lawmaker.
