According to the US Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Ohio, Jackson, 25, confessed to stealing a vehicle from a pizzeria parking lot in December 2022, with the five-month-old twins in the back seat. The incident sparked widespread concern and a frantic search for the missing infants.

The twins’ mother, Wilhelmina Thomas, briefly left her vehicle running while she picked up a restaurant order late one evening. Upon her return, her car, along with her two children, had vanished. Jackson, in possession of the stolen vehicle, drove around western Ohio for several hours, eventually arriving at Dayton International Airport. However, she became disoriented and left one of the infants in the airport parking lot before continuing her journey to Indianapolis with the other infant still in her custody.

Woman Has Pleaded Guilty

The ordeal continued as Jackson abandoned the second infant at a Papa John’s Pizza location in Indiana, where she exited the vehicle and disappeared. Fortunately, a passerby discovered the abandoned infant and alerted security, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and concerned community members.

Despite efforts to locate the missing infants, one of the twins, identified as Ky’air Thomas, tragically passed away one month later under unexplained circumstances, according to an Ohio coroner’s office.

Jackson has since pleaded guilty to two counts of kidnapping a minor, acknowledging her role in the abduction and abandonment of the infant twins. US Attorney Kenneth L. Parker emphasized the severity of Jackson’s actions, stating, “There is no greater responsibility than protecting our youth,” and asserting the community’s collective horror at Jackson’s exploitation of vulnerable children.

The resolution of this case serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding children and holding perpetrators of such crimes accountable for their actions. Jackson’s guilty plea represents a step towards justice for the victims and their families, although the tragic loss of one infant serves as a poignant reminder of the lasting impact of such criminal acts.
