In a harrowing account, the victim recounted being threatened with a gun and forced to kneel as the perpetrators demanded money. “They were just saying they were going to kill me if I don’t give them the money – know what I mean? And they made me kneel with a pistol pointed at my head,” the victim stated, expressing the fear and anguish experienced during the ordeal.

The psychological trauma inflicted upon the victims is evident as they grapple with the aftermath of the terrifying encounters.

Community members, alarmed by the frequency and violence of the robberies, are calling for swift action to apprehend the perpetrators. Kadeisha Montique, a resident of Washington Heights, expressed her concern, emphasizing the importance of removing the suspects from the streets to prevent further harm. “That’s very important because then it could happen to me, it could happen to someone else again, very scary,” Montique remarked, echoing the sentiments of many residents living in fear of becoming the next target.

Police have released video footage of one suspect, believed to be involved in the robberies, who is seen not only evading fare by jumping turnstiles but also physically assaulting individuals. The gravity of the situation is underscored by the violent nature of the crimes, with one victim reportedly punched in the face during a robbery.
