The HIDTA Task Force completed a drugs and guns investigation on Wednesday, according to the Rhode Island State Police, and a court-authorized search warrant was executed at the home on Beacon Avenue in Providence as a result of the investigation. Members of the HIDTA Task Force charged Providence resident George Siradze, 31, with multiple guns and drug violations based on illicit contraband found and confiscated on the scene.
The State Police HIDTA Task Force members found and confiscated large quantities of illicit guns, ammunition, and drugs. In particular, a short-barreled, ghost.556 caliber assault rifle that had been modified to enable fully automatic gunfire was confiscated by HIDTA Task Force personnel. A Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun, a Smith and Wesson 9 mm handgun, eight large capacity magazines, roughly 671 grams of cocaine, 100 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 17 kilograms of marijuana, and supplies to further distribute and repackage illegal drugs were also confiscated by HIDTA Task Force members.
Possession of more than five kilograms of marijuana, possession with the intent to deliver more than one ounce of cocaine, and possession with the intent to deliver psylocibin mushrooms are all considered narcotics offenses. A machine gun, a semi-automated weapon that has been modified, a rifle that has been sawed off, a ghost gun, the possession of firearms while engaging in controlled substance violations, and the prohibition of large capacity feeding devices are among the offenses related to weapons.
Numerous law enforcement agencies working together to support the Rhode Island State Police in their hunt for aggressive, frequently armed drug dealers are directly responsible for this seizure. The collaborations between the Rhode Island State Police, participating HIDTA Task Force members, and other state and federal law enforcement agencies are responsible for the success of these investigations.
Members of the Rhode Island State Police, Providence Police Department, Cranston Police Department, North Providence Police Department, Lincoln Police Department, and Rhode Island National Guard Counterdrug Program make up the Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.
