Tucker Carlson Returns to Headlines Amid Controversy: Where Has He Been?

Tucker Carlson was let go from Fox News during a time when he was highly influential. He was a prominent figure on a highly popular cable news show, attracting a diverse audience that ranged from presidents and former presidents to both liberals and conservatives, including Republican lawmakers. He was even seen as a potential presidential candidate.

Even after ten months have passed since his embarrassing departure, none of those things remain accurate. Carlson continues to create content that has been criticized for its potential racial bias, as noted by the New York Times. However, his show on Elon Musk’s ‘X’ platform does not have the same level of influence or viewership.

That is, maybe, until now. The individual in question recently revealed plans to conduct an interview with Russian president Vladimir Putin regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. This comes after a history of expressing admiration for a leader known for suppressing press freedom.

Tucker Carlson achieved great success on Fox by pushing the boundaries of acceptability further than any of his predecessors. From his prominent position, he expressed prejudice, echoed extremist viewpoints, and spread conspiracies and falsehoods while pretending to be a journalist.

After an extended tenure in the leading position, he departed from Fox News amidst a storm of controversy and legal actions. According to sources, the unexpected termination of its highly regarded host was reportedly ordered by Rupert Murdoch in April of last year.

In a statement, the network announced that it had decided to end its association with Carlson shortly after reaching a settlement of $787.5 million in a defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems.

Fox News found itself in a rather uncomfortable position due to the recent disclosures in pre-trial court documents regarding its reporting following the 2020 presidential elections.

Carlson and other hosts, such as Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, privately ridiculed frequent guests, including Donald Trump’s attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, while persistently promoting false information and conspiracy theories to their viewers.

According to court documents, Carlson expressed strong negative feelings towards Mr. Trump in text messages to an unidentified Fox employee, referring to him as a “demonic force” and expressing a passionate hatred towards the former president. This occurred two days prior to the January 6 riots.

It was only natural that the individual who was always connected to the internet at Fox News would devote all of their time to Twitter following their dismissal.

Carlson allegedly received numerous offers from various sources, including Russian state TV, before ultimately choosing X. “Tucker on Twitter” explores the same cultural war subjects that made him famous at Fox, but with a much stranger twist.
