Cross Island Tragedy: Driver and Passengers Identified in Deadly Accident!

Cybersecdn- In a tragic start to the New Year, a devastating accident occurred on the Cross Island Parkway in Queens, claiming the lives of five individuals. The accident, which took place early on New Year’s morning, involved a blue Mazda sedan and a white Honda Pilot SUV.

The victims, identified as 24-year-old driver Kazeem Ramsahai from North Carolina, and four passengers from Queens – 30-year-old Mario Ocampo, 19-year-old Dayanara Benitez-Ocampo, 23-year-old Salma Garcia-Diaz, and 20-year-old Jordy Bentances – all succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

The accident unfolded around 6 a.m. when the Mazda, heading north on the Whitestone Expressway, collided with the center median before crossing onto the parkway. At this critical juncture, it crashed into the Honda SUV that was entering the ramp. The 63-year-old driver of the Honda survived but is currently in critical but stable condition with neck and back injuries.

Residents have pointed out the notorious danger of this particular bend in the parkway, ominously dubbed the “dead man’s curve.” This tragic incident brings to light the pressing need for enhanced safety measures on this stretch of road to prevent future tragedies.
