Following a recent police investigation into company break-ins, a guy from Rhode Island is being charged with multiple offenses.

Police said that on January 22, 2025, officers from the Cumberland Police Department were called to the local boutique gift shop Heart and Soul, located at 3751 Mendon Road, in response to an allegation of a recent break-in. The guy broke into the store early in the morning and took more over $150,000 worth of products, according to information obtained from the business owners. Following a thorough investigation by Cumberland Police Detectives, a suspect in this B&E was identified, and Troy Stone, 39, of Cumberland, was found and arrested earlier this morning at his home on Mendon Road.

According to the findings of this inquiry, Stone is suspected of committing B&Es at three other town locations: One Stop Deli (Bound Road), Cumberland Farms (Mendon Road), and Khoury’s Tavern (Manville Hill Road). Investigators also discovered that Stone was wanted for evasion from justice in Connecticut and had an active warrant. Currently, Stone will face felony larceny and breaking and entering charges, with further accusations still pending.

Stone has a long criminal past, having been arrested multiple times for violent crimes, including larceny and B&E, in the states of Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Later today, a Justice of the Peace will arraign Stone.

Chief Benson suggested that everyone engaged, especially the detectives of the Cumberland Police Department, put in an exceptional effort. They traveled to Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut in pursuit of this suspect in order to gather evidence against them. Once more, thanks to the Flock camera network and a lot of hard work, I’m happy to say that another criminal is no longer on our streets and that a small local business will receive justice.
