Tyshaun Watson, 35, from Secaucus, New Jersey, was charged with attempted murder on Monday for a violent attack on a Manhattan pizzeria manager last month. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced that Watson also faces several assault charges stemming from the incident at Roma Pizza on Fifth Avenue.
The altercation occurred on August 19 when Watson entered the pizzeria with his dog. The manager informed Watson that pets were not allowed inside, which reportedly enraged him. According to court documents, Watson reacted by physically assaulting the manager, repeatedly punching him.
The manager tried to escape outside, but Watson continued the assault until the victim was rendered unconscious. The dog also bit the manager multiple times during the attack, according to prosecutors. After the brutal beating, Watson calmly returned to the restaurant and sat in the dining area until authorities arrived and arrested him.
The victim was rushed to a hospital with severe injuries, including brain bleeding, and was placed in a medically induced coma for nearly two weeks. For more details on the case, visit the PIX11 coverage.
