Organized by Georgia Moms Demand Action, Every Town, and Georgia Clinicians for Gun Safety, the event was a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle against gun violence in the United States.

Dr. Michael Greenwald from Georgia Clinicians for Gun Safety and Ronda Harris, a grieving mother who lost her son Malachi in 2017, emphasized the human cost of gun violence beyond the statistics. The vigil brought together community members who lit candles in memory of victims and called for concrete action to curb gun-related incidents.

Participants and organizers are advocating for stricter gun safety laws, including mandatory gun safes and secure firearm storage. They are also focusing on creating community programs for youth, exemplified by initiatives like Jared’s Heart for Success, founded in memory of Jared Brown, a young victim of gun violence.
